Live Performances, Various Activities and Clubs Connect Students with Campus Opportunities

“Our goal is to create spaces where students can connect, build relationships, and feel part of the campus community,” said Emily, president of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

The RSO Spring Festival, held April 16 on WSUV campus, was co-hosted by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the Student Activities Board (SAB) as well as the Office of Student Life and Intercultural Learning (CILA). The event brought together student organizations, campus groups, and local vendors, creating an interactive space for students to explore involvement opportunities and build connections.

While SWE, CILA and SAB led the event, the festival primarily featured student-led clubs and organizations focused on outreach and engagement. Participating groups included the Pre-Law Society, Swifties Club, Pre-Pharmacy Club, Pre-Vet Club, the WSUV Basketball Club, along with ASWSUV.

The event also offered activities such as face painting, a bouncy house, and live music performances, alongside local vendors including Buen Apetito Mexican Cuisine, Kona Ice, and Bluum Coffee

Many organizations used the festival to directly connect with students and share how to get involved. Members of the WSUV Basketball Club emphasized that their group goes beyond casual play, offering weekly meetups, watch parties, and opportunities to connect with other students.

Edgar, a member of the WSUV Basketball Club, emphasized that the Basketball Club is more-so about building a community and making connections, as opposed to just playing basketball.

“You might meet people in your major or even find opportunities like internships through networking,” Edgar added. Students can join by following and attending the club; event details are displayed on Instagram or via Discord.

Kai, a member of the Student Activities Board (SAB), highlighted the organization’s role in planning events that encourage student engagement both on and off campus.
“We’re here to help students find community, make friendships, and try new things,” Kai said, noting that SAB hosts a range of activities throughout the semester. Students can attend events by following campus announcements and/or flyers around campus.

Members of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) also emphasized opportunities for professional development, highlighting the organization’s focus on networking and career readiness.
“We’ve brought in professionals and hosted panels so students can see what’s possible, said Emily, President of SWE. Students can connect with the organization through Instagram or through its Discord.

Clubs also highlighted pathways tied to specific academic and career interests. Members of the WSUV Pre-Pharmacy Club encouraged students to explore opportunities within healthcare.
“There are so many paths in pre-health, and we want students to understand what those look like,” a club member said.
Students can follow updates through the club’s Instagram, with additional contact information expected in the coming semester.

The Swifties Club offered a more social and creative space for those who follow Taylor Swift’s music and life. The club hosts activities such as bracelet-making, trivia, and art-based events. Members noted that the club allows students from different majors to connect through shared interests and is stress-free.

The Pre-Law Society, including Cooper, the organization’s treasurer, and Vice President Stevie, shared that the club is currently rebuilding and recruiting new members following leadership transitions. Moss, the Club President added, “Not everyone has to go to law school… There are other paths, and law can connect to many different careers.” Students from all majors are encouraged to join if they are interested in opportunities in the sector.

The Pre-Vet Club also participated in the event, encouraging students interested in veterinary medicine to connect with club leadership and learn more about future opportunities. You can also find information regarding this club on their Instagram.

There were also live performances by bands such as All Hype, Valkerie, Everett Tea, The Stone Crows, and TA Music during the festival. You can follow their socials for updates on music and upcoming performances.

Student leaders across organizations said that involvement extends beyond academics, emphasizing that clubs allow folks to build connections, find new interests, and meet new people.
