Senior Snapshot: Camillia Moore

By JORDHEN WANGCHUK | Managing Editor

Every month The VanCougar interviews a WSU Vancouver senior and asks them about their college experiences. In this, the second installation of this column, we spoke with Camillia Moore, a computer science major from Vancouver, WA. Moore is set to graduate in Spring of 2025.

Q: What is the hardest part about being a senior?

Honestly I’d say just the fact that it’s almost over, but you just have to keep going. [There’s just] a little bit left. Almost there, but just not quite there.

Q: Is there a person or a class you took that changed your life?

No, I don’t think so… I can’t really think of any specific people or classes. I feel like… if I had to say, there’s nothing in particular, [no one thing that] changed my life, because I feel like all of the classes that I’ve taken, and all the people I’ve interacted with, have changed my life by a slight amount.

Sure, [coming off of the end of my last semester], I definitely feel like I’m a completely different person than I was when I was going into college. But I can’t really attribute that to any one specific thing. It’s just been a huge cumulation of things.

Q: Have you enjoyed your time at WSU Vancouver?

I’d say I have. It’s definitely a really nice campus, everyone here that I’ve met has been pretty nice. I’ve learned a lot of stuff… For some, it would probably suck that there’s [not really a typical college party life], but that’s not what I was after with college. I was after getting the degree, and WSUV’s definitely provided that and more for me.

Q: If you could give one piece of advice to current and incoming WSU Vancouver students, what would you tell them?

I think this is a piece of advice that… I probably need as well: Don’t slack off on your work. Don’t put off everything till the last minute. Focus on getting stuff done soon, and getting stuff done quick, so that you have time in order to actually ask questions about your work, make sure that you’re doing things right, and time to relax and not have to stress out about anything. I think that’s gonna provide a pretty big stress-free time at WSU, or really any other college, or just life in general.

Q: What’s your favorite memory from your time at WSU Vancouver?

I don’t think there’s any one specific memory that stands out. Definitely just… a lot of little stuff [that culminated into] an amazing experience here. If I had to say something, I’d probably say presenting one of my projects to the class after I felt like I did good, or walking out on the final day of the semester knowing I don’t have to come back next week.

But… just in general, finishing things up and being able to be done with it is definitely a good experience. Like… even with finishing that stuff, it feels great because of the struggle and everything that you’ve gone through. The trials and tribulations that you had to get through in order to get to that point. I’d say don’t stress out about all the stressors in your life.
