Dear VanCougs,

My name is Jagger Norris and I’m one of two associate managing editors for the 2023 spring semester. I’ve been with The VanCougar since I started my journey at WSU Vancouver as a junior last year. After nearly a year and a half as the advertising manager, I’m honored to move into the managing editor position alongside Midori. I’ve seen the team evolve and grow over the last year and I’m more than excited for what we’ve got in store for the coming years.

During my time at The VanCougar I’ve seen the organization develop and grow into its own personality. One of the most difficult challenges we endured was a lack of support from administration on campus. Thankfully, a lot of hard work was put in by leadership to ensure that we fully realized these connections. Tamara, Len, Lillian and many others on campus support us in our efforts to produce high-quality stories and the entire VanCougar team is extremely appreciative of the support they provide.

As for my new position at The VanCougar, my main goal is to garner attention for The VanCougar Newsmagazine and ensure that we are operating as efficiently as possible. With a full staff, the connections we have available grow rapidly, tasks can be readily delegated and the staff can really show off their skills in their respective areas. We are excited to have a strong presence at events and nourish a great relationship with the Student Media Board.

The VanCougar has a long history at WSU Vancouver and over the years has seen some extreme overhauls. I have full faith in the whole team that, despite some minor setbacks, our magazine will be high quality every single time a new issue comes out. I would really like to highlight that The VanCougar is a collection of your voices. Every time a story is considered, we always ask the question “Does this represent the students on campus?” We are a representation of the student body at WSU Vancouver and with that we have a duty to write about what is affecting our students most.

Sincerely,

2023 Associate Managing Editor

Jagger Norris
