Coug Gaming: Anticipated Frights for 2025

The spookiest month of the year is halfway over, but like a wave of the undead, new horror game titles just keep coming. To keep you from being shocked or jump-scared, The VanCougar has compiled a list of the most anticipated horror games coming out this October 2025, across the entire spooky season.

This is the first game development for Meangrip Studios and Chris Darril, and together they have made a new horror puzzle platformer. The art style is inspired by old handdrawn animations. Bye Sweet Carole takes you on an adventure to help find your missing friend, Carole, who has vanished from the Bunny Hall orphanage. With shifting mechanics to keep you on your feet and an atmosphere to fully immerse you in the horror themes, Bye Sweet Carole may host the most unique gameplay to be featured this October.

The Little Nightmares series took off running with the release of the first Little Nightmares game in 2017, and now, 8 years later, the nightmare returns with the release of both a remastered version of the original Little Nightmares and an enhanced version for new players or returning ones. The new addition to the franchise, Little Nightmares III, is the first co-op game in this trilogy that takes you and a friend through the twisted carnival your characters call home.

Explore the empty halls of the once bustling Bariton Mansion, search for the presence of the old friend who called you here, and attend to the secrets that were left behind by the echoes of who once lived here. Resonant Dusk is a clear homage to the horror adventure games of the 1990s. The gameplay will consist of solving puzzles and piecing together the mysteries of the mansion through interactions with the spirits that haunt the halls.

The first, in what is expected to become a series of games, Everdark: Undead Apocalypse, is a fast-paced firstperson shooter with visuals inspired by 1980s horror movies. After a car crash leaves you stranded in the undead-infested town of Everdark, you fight your way to freedom using a variety of demonslaying tools such as stakes, garlic, guns, crosses, and holy water.
